Jarmund / Vigsnæs as architects are holding an exhibition in Paris this spring.

 We are a Norwegian architectural practice, started around 11 years ago, who would like to explore the equation [Nature + Process = Buildings] by interacting with Paris and its inhabitants.

 We will do this by;

-          Presenting 10 - 12 projects, already built work, in close relationship to nature, often under extreme climatic situations and;

-          Presenting the fragile process towards how this built reality comes about.

The first part will be presented by large images on the walls of the gallery. The Svalbard Science center will be given a special role in the presentation as an in-depth example. This presentation has a special importance due to The International Polar Year 2007-2008.

The second part will be presented through actual production of architecture in the localities of the gallery. Part of our office will be temporarily moved here to achieve this. We have recently received two commissions relevant to the exhibition, one in connection to the new Lofoten Road system located north of the Polar Circle, and one at Svalbard (78 degree’s north.)

The fragile products of the process (sketches, models etc) will be posted on the walls during the exhibition period for public commentary. The necessary background material for the projects underway; site documentation etc. will also be presented.

Every Friday afternoon we will have open reviews of the work progress, open to all of Paris. We hope to interact with the audience, present and exchange ideas, and give the projects a sense of direction from this interaction.

We will try to present our love-affair with nature. How we are both oriented and disoriented at the same time towards it, and sometimes also lost in it.
